Provide leadership, management and supervision to a large college health promotion department. Under the guidance of the Assistant Director, maintains responsibility for all programmatic, administrative, staffing/personnel, and resource management of the department.
Carries out administrative responsibilities of department manager, including managing department resources, determining appropriate staffing, recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, counseling, and conducting annual reviews. Provides day-to-day oversight of staff activities. Supervises the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all health promotion initiatives based on the needs of the campus community, including general areas of need not covered by other OHP staff. Consults with and develops collaborative programs and working relationships, and research partnerships with numerous constituencies on campus. Facilitates strategic planning for the departments goals and objectives. Works with department staff to set and track administrative and programming priorities of the department. Develops and implements population-based assessments of student's health status, needs, and assets and conducts environmental assessments of health and wellness needs and resources for the campus community. Disseminates/reports on assessment results and develops proposals for policy, programs and other interventions, and departmental goals and objectives based on findings and needs of the campus community. Represents the organization and student health needs to stakeholders on and off campus. Responds to inquiries about health information and services from students, staff, faculty and media. Serves as health promotion liaison and social media manager for the University Health Services Public Information Team. Oversees work of social media coordinator. Provides leadership over health communications. Serves on committees and task forces as requested, including but not limited to the UT Wellness Network, and participates in professional group meetings to advance and contribute to the field of public health/health promotion. Participates in other activities as appropriate or as assigned by supervisor.

Masters/advanced degree in public health, health ed or related field. Two yrs of experience directly related to duties of this position. Two yrs experience in supervision of professional staff. Extensive knowledge of current/emerging college health issues, intervention methods, health behavior change theories, ecological framework, and evidence-based practice. Demonstrated ability in core areas of program planning and assessment/eval. Demonstrated proficiency in assessment and eval including survey design, data collection, and other qualitative/quantitative methods. Demonstrated oral/written communication skills. Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning experience for a dept, team, or initiative in public health/higher ed setting. Demonstrated ability to professionally navigate complex political and admin environments. Ability to maintain confidentiality. High-level organizational skills. Strong project management skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues. Excellent computer skills; MS Office Suite proficient; working knowledge of SPSS. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse community and provide service from a non-judgmental perspective. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Certified Public Health (CPH), Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) credentialed. More than two years of experience directly related to duties/responsibilities of this position. More than two years of experience in supervision of professional staff. Direct experience leading or managing a large department, team, or initiative in the public health/higher education setting. Experience with responding to media request and representing an organization to external audiences. Demonstrated experience using innovative technology and methods to enhance outreach efforts. Work experience within a higher education setting or with the college student population. Familiarity with research and best practices in college health promotion. Proven record of delivering quality results in a timely manner. Social media management in a professional capacity. Grant writing and management skills. Demonstrated expertise in health communications.
